Wikimedia-UK

About This Course

The Wikimedia sites, including Wikipedia, were viewed 25 billion times a month in 2023. They are one of the most widely viewed family of websites in the world, and a go-to source of information for Internet users.

Learning to edit Wikipedia is a great way to improve your digital skills, share content relevant to your institution's area of work, and make information accessible to the public.

This course will teach you how Wikipedia works and how you can contribute to it. It is self-paced so you can take as long as you need. The main focus will be on Wikipedia, and you will also learn about sharing images on Wikimedia Commons.

This course was developed by Wikimedia UK's Connected Heritage project, which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and aimed to help the heritage sector improve their digital skills by learning about Wikipedia.

We hope you enjoy this course and learning about Wikipedia!
