Threat Modeling for Wikimedians

WikimediaFoundation

About This Course

As online spaces become increasingly contested, participating in the Wikimedia movement can expose contributors to different privacy and safety risks depending on who they are, where they participate from, the people they work with, and the topics they engage with. This course introduces threat modeling as a practical framework for understanding those risks and making informed decisions about your privacy and security while contributing to Wikimedia projects.

With the help of a guided worksheet, you will learn how to identify potential threats, reflect on your online and offline exposure, and create your own threat model. By the end of the course, you will have a practical tool to help you balance transparency, privacy, and safety in a way that fits your individual circumstances and participation in the Wikimedia movement.

Requirements

No prerequisites. This course is open to anyone interested in learning how to make more informed privacy and safety decisions while participating in the Wikimedia movement.
