Welcome! Do you want to learn how to edit Wikipedia? The Wikimedia Core Curriculum is a set of instructional modules designed to teach complete beginners the basic skills and principles needed to successfully integrate into the English Wikipedia editing community.
It focuses on teaching the core content policies, because understanding those is the key difference between people who encounter a lot of friction in Wikipedia (and eventually give up or get blocked) and those who thrive and remain active and valued volunteers. Each module will help you to edit Wikipedia with more confidence and avoid the mistakes that often get people's contributions rejected.
These modules were designed by the Community Development team at the Wikimedia Foundation with valuable input from Wikimedians. They're under constant iteration and we welcome any feedback at comdevteam@wikimedia.org
This module introduces the curriculum and sets expectations. You can see all the content modules below:
Each module can be completed individually and they're fully student-led. We recommend following the learning pathway as indicated, but feel free to take as many or few modules as you require in the order of your preference.
The course assumes proficiency with grammatically correct written English, a general high school education, and regular access to the Internet. No other prior knowledge is required.

No. This is an introductory module for a learning pathway and it does not result in a specific learning achievement. Its purpose is solely for information and guidance on the Wikimedia Core Curriculum. The next modules do have completion criteria that lead to a certificate.
